Meet Elizabeth

Elizabeth A. Heller, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor at the University of Pennsylvania and Founder of Rafias. Her research focuses on the epigenetic regulation of addiction-related neural circuits, with a particular emphasis on transcriptional mechanisms that drive relapse vulnerability. Dr. Heller’s discoveries around Nr4a1 form the scientific foundation of Rafias’ therapeutic strategy.

My Story

Dr. Heller completed her PhD at the Rockefeller Univeristy and postdoctoral training at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She joined the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in 2016 as an Assistant Professor of Systems Pharmacology and Translational Therapeutics.
